I mostly paint the desert badlands of the Colorado Plateau, I’ve been hiking this land since I was eight years old. It is my refuge. I’ve always been drawn to it. The desert requires unique temperament and vision to appreciate its’ desolate beauty. It is rich in subtleties, sharp contrasts, wonders, dangers and offers expansive solitude. My work offers hints… …fragments… …odd juxtapositions. I don’t make sense, I make paintings. Collectors who have lived with my paintings for a period of time tell me they view and experience desert badlands differently now. They see more color, more detail and beauty when they return to the desert.
