There was something about the empty weathered window frame… …the eroding adobe wall which held it… …the earthen bricks eroding. Most of the time I paint landscapes but these old, earthy, hand built churches evoked a humble dignity and sense of reverence. They haunted me. I began to seek them out on my journeys to draw and paint them. Built and maintained by those who worship in them they have an innate beauty and spirit which transcends their humble materials. It is that quality which inspired my paintings.
